Victory for Canadian Taylor in the tie-break

Sports Editorial, January 12 (EFE).- Canadian Nick Taylor won the Phoenix Open, a PGA Tour tournament, beating American Charley Hoffman after two elimination holes.

The 35-year-old from Winnipeg needed two birdies in the final three holes to force a tiebreaker with Hoffman, tying them at 263 strokes (-21) and finishing three ahead of two of the big favorites. “The TPC Scottsdale court, Sam Burns and world number one Scottie Scheffler.

The former world number one amateur, winner of the Canadian Open last year, arrived in better condition for the tiebreaker. Both made par on the first hole and on the second a birdie with a 3.3 meter putt gave him his fourth victory on the circuit.

With this, he took revenge for his second place last year, when he fought for victory but lost by two strokes to Scheffler himself on a final day in which the Spaniard Jon Rahm, who finished third, was also in the fight. Despite everything, Taylor assured that this result and this day was a big step in his career that has helped him ever since.

The Argentinian Emiliano Grillo finished in twenty-second position with 275 hits, after having had a spectacular last day, in which he presented a card with 63 hits (-8). EFE
