Canadian police investigate shooting outside rapper Drake's home

Canadian police investigate Tuesday shooting outside rap superstar's home duckin Toronto, during which a man was seriously injured.

Police Inspector Paul Krawczyk said a security guard was taken to hospital and seriously injured after the shooting, which happened before dawn. The vast property remained cordoned off.

The guard was standing outside the doors of the residence when the incident occurred, Krawczyk told reporters.

The shooting was captured on grainy security camera footage, but it has not been made public.

“I cannot confirm if Drake was home at the time of the incident, but I can tell you that we are in contact with his team and they are cooperating,” added the inspector.

A suspect fled the scene in a vehicle, authorities said, but no description was provided.

Police cordoned off much of the area. Several small orange marks were visible on the side of the road, believed to indicate the location of the bullet casings.

Drake, 37, known for hits like God's plan And Bling Hotlinewas the highest-paid rapper in the world last year.

In recent days, the Canadian has engaged in a lyrical war with Kendrick Lamarin which artists traded controversial lyrics with accusations of pedophilia, abuse and infidelity that gained public attention beyond the hip hop scene.

Fights are not something new in this musical genre, known for the boasting of its artists and for the fierce battles between its great representatives.

There is no indication that the shooting had any connection to the battle between the rappers.
