Google presents its AI capable of writing news articles in the USA

Google featured some of the top media outlets in the United States, like The New York Times (NYT), Washington Post and the company that owns The Wall Street Journal– a tool that uses artificial intelligence (AI) technology to produce information called Genesis, according to the New York Times.

This new generative AI tool, which has not yet been officially presented by Google, according to the newspaper, has the working title Genesis, and can take information – such as news data – and generate content news.

Google’s goal would not be for its tool to replace the work of an editor, but rather to help journalists “improve their work and their productivity.”

“In partnership with news publishers, particularly smaller publishers, we are in the early stages of exploring ideas that could provide AI-based tools to help journalists in their work. For example, AI-based tools could help journalists with options for headlines or different writing styles,” detailed Google spokesperson Jenn Crider in a statement sent to several specialized media.

For some time now, several American media outlets have been using AI tools to automate their information: the AP news agency, for example, uses this technology to write information on company results.

For now, the biggest problem with AI chatbots – such as OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Google’s Bard and Microsoft’s Bing – is that in their responses they can give information that isn’t true, an error known as the name “hallucinations”.
