The ex-president Alvaro Uribe continues to demonstrate its disagreement with the government's health reform approved last year in the House and will continue its process in the Senate once the legislative recess ends, that is, after February.

In addition to promoting a popular consultation allowing citizens to vote whether or not they agree with the health reform, the former president repeatedly uses his account on X to reject certain points considered in the project. This Friday, he spoke about the insurance of the health system which, according to him, would change the model of President Gustavo Petro.

“Today, EPS insurance is responsible for everything to the patient. There are delays in processing more complex cases like those in Canada and England. In our country, there is a lack of specialists, a problem that must be corrected,” he began in his trill.

He added that if the health system reform project is approved, insurance would depend on the policy adopted by each regional government.

“The reform puts an end to insurance. The patient must go to the nearest health center, where they will be affiliated (registered) in order to be able to refer them to more complex care. They would send him to the network hospital chosen by politics, the government, the town hall, etc. Today, the hospital network is chosen by the EPS, which must respond to levels of complexity. From now on we will depend on politics,” he said.

The reform will continue to be discussed this year and this time, it is the plenary of the Senate which must lead its debate. Since its approval in the House, comments have been heard within the company that its process would be more arduous in the Senate. Some seats would strategize such as breaking the quorum and voting negatively on certain items.
