Below is the full text of the statement:

The Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela expresses its concern over the statement made by the Governments of Canada and the Cooperative Republic of Guyana, made on the sidelines of the Canada-Caricom Summit.

To the destabilizing position assumed by the Guyanese government representing the interests of ExxonMobil and the Southern Command, is now added the hostility of the Canadian government, promoter of the failure of the Lima Group and its aggressions against the Venezuelan people. Calling Venezuela a “security and stability” priority for both governments denotes unacceptable interventionist intentions.

Venezuela has a strong democratic system, which has survived many trials and which can be trusted to reflect the will of its people. At the same time, Venezuelan foreign policy is sovereign and independent and is based on Bolivarian peace diplomacy and not on the interests of transnational corporations or any other power.

Venezuela, therefore, in accordance with international law and the principle of self-determination of the people, demands respect for its institutions and democratic processes by all nations on the continent.
