Monterrey.- Downtown Canada, an urban complex developed by Monterrey Real Estate Group (GIM) will hold its groundbreaking ceremony this Wednesday February 21 at 1:30 p.m..

In this first phase, the Holiday Inn Express and Suites and Straybridge Suites hotels are planned to be installed at the intersection of Sendero Divisorio Avenue and the Highway to Colombia.

The official event will also be led by the Tourism Secretariat of the Government of Nuevo León, whose owner is Maricarmen Martínez; and the authorities of the municipality of Escobedo, led by Andrés Mijes.

In its hotel use, the project aims to benefit tourists who visit Nuevo León and workers who make business trips.

Overall, according to the official website of the construction company, it is planned to install different commercial facilities with renowned stores such as Liverpool and IKEA, the Swedish home furniture store, the first in Nuevo León and the third in the country.

There will also be a social coexistence center and five thousand housing units will be built. The project investment amounts to 1.150 million dollars.

In total, there will be an area of ​​4.5 million square meters of construction. The complex will include a performance hall that can accommodate 5,000 people, bowling alleys and a cinema.

Residential towers, five hotels in total and flagship warehouses within the Fashion shopping center are other elements of this urban megaproject.

It should be noted that this development will mark a transformation of the land on which it will be built, since it was formerly used for the installation of circuses, improvised parking lots and pirate taxi base.

Grupo Inmobiliario Monterrey, in charge of “El Canada City Center”, is responsible for other constructions with a commercial and tourist vocation, such as Fashion Drive, Main Entry, Magma Shops and La Joya.
