The IMF predicts that Spain will be the fastest growing developed economy in 2024 and 2024.

He International Monetary Fund (IMF) predicts that the economic growth of Spain Over this year and next, this rate will be higher than that of the rest of the major advanced economies. In other words, the Spanish will be the fastest growing developed economy. This is what the financial body expressed through the “World Economic Outlook” report, in which it keeps its Spanish forecasts for 2023 unchanged, although it lowers those for 2024 by three tenths.

The institution headed by Kristalina Georgieva maintains its July forecasts, in which it grants Spain growth of 2.5% for 2023. However, it has revised downwards the Spanish economic projection for 2024moment at which he estimates a 1.7% expansion of GDP.

Global growth of 3%

In the case of advanced economies, the IMF maintains its previous forecasts of 1.5% this year and 1.4% for next year. However, there is a big difference between countries. The international institution, for example, demonstrates great optimism for the United Stateswhich improves the forecasts by three and five tenths respectively: up to 2.1% in 2013 and up to 1.5% in 2024.

There Eurozoneon the contrary, defends the opposite sentiment, which is why the Fund gets worse by two tenths its previous growth forecast for 2023 -up to 0.7%-, as well as the projection for 2024, which it reduces by three tenths -up to 1.2%-.

“Spain will be the developed country with the strongest growth in 2024 and 2024”

The IMF has already warned that this slowdown envisaged for the majority of euro zone countries is the result, to a large extent, of the tighter monetary policy which was adopted to try to reduce inflation and which could begin to have an effect -although unevenly between countries-.

Thus, the new IMF projections envisage a 3% global growthin line with previous forecasts, but they reduce the expected rate of expansion for next year by a tenth.

Canada This is the case of the developed economy whose expected recovery is closest to that of Spain, with growth of 1.6%.

“Spain will be the engine of growth”

After reading these forecasts announced by the IMF this Tuesday from Marrakech, the Spanish Ministry of the Economy stressed that “Spain will be the developed country that will experience the strongest growth in 2024 and 2024.” Some predictions which, in fact, are above those of the government and this triples the estimated growth for the euro zone, well above countries like France, Germany or Italy.

“The International Monetary Fund maintains its growth forecast for Spain at 2.5% for this year and places it at 1.7% for 2024. uncertain international environment“Spain will lead growth among the main developed economies in both years,” added the department led by Nadia Calviño.

Furthermore, IMF forecasts show a slow down inflation in Spain during this year, placing it below the main European economies and the Eurozone. In this way, the Spanish trend is maintained, which for more than a year has been among the countries with the lowest inflation and the highest economic growth in the Eurozone.
