Through a statement sent to the media, the family of the 30-year-old young man said that Aranda Burgoin’s father and brother had made the identification of the body, This after accusing the Canadian authorities a few weeks ago of having declared that the body was that of Carlos Tomás without first carrying out the relevant tests.

“With deep regret, the family of Carlos Tomás Aranda Burgoin informs parents, friends, society in general who supported the cause and the media, that the father and brother of the young man from Oaxaca were able to confirm that the body was found weeks in a lake of OsoyoosCanada, matches Carlos,” the bulletin read.

After identification, the farm worker’s relatives began to take the necessary steps to repatriate the young man to Mexican soil, more precisely to the state of Oaxacawhere he will be buried.

In the same statement, the relatives indicated that they will continue to monitor the results of the autopsy carried out on the body, which will be delivered in four months and with which the conditions in which the death of the young man occurred will be determined.

At the same time, the Aranda Burgoins thanked the support they received from the chancery and embassy of Mexico in this country, and reiterated their call to the Canadian authorities to continue and deepen the investigations in order to determine responsibilities.

Originally from Oaxaca, Carlos Tomás Aranda studied tourism at the Autonomous University of Benito Juárez (UABJO). At the age of 30, the young man decided to travel to Canada with the aim of working on a farm in Osoyoos, a border town with the United States (USA).

However, on July 7, 2023, the family lost all contact with the young man. According to the police report, Carlos attended a meeting with his colleagues, but after an alleged discussion Oaxaca has left where it was.
