Tennis player Lourdes Carlé earns Olympic quota for Argentina at 2023 Pan American Games

Lourdes Carlé And Facundo Diaz They obtained quotas for Argentina in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games by reaching the individual final of the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games.

Carlé beat the Canadian Rebecca Marino by 6-1 and 6-4 to reach the final of the tournament without having given up a single set so far. Of the eight rounds he played, only two did he concede more than four games to his rivals.

Tennis quotas for the 2023 Pan American Games are provisional. These will only be confirmed by the International Federation (ITF) on June 10, 2024, with the publication of the first individual ranking after Roland-Garros.

To confirm this quota, Lourdes Carlé will have to remain among the first 400 in the women’s individual ranking, and Argentina cannot have reached the maximum of four quotas per country and gender for individual tournaments.

Although tennis quotas are nominal, National Olympic Committees have exclusive authority over the representation of their respective countries at the Olympic Games. The participation of athletes in Paris 2024 will therefore depend on the selection of their NOC to represent their delegation at the next Olympic Games.
