SANTO DOMINGO.- Dominican diplomat Hans Dannenberg was dismissed with two masses celebrated in his memory in Russia and Canada, the last countries in which he directed the country's foreign policy.
The Canadian mass took place at 2 p.m. in the Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica.
The Deputy Minister of Bilateral Foreign Policy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, José Julio Gómez, shared on his social networks a video that shows the wife of the deceased diplomat and their two children speaking to those who accompanied them to the religious service .
“In Canada, mass is celebrated in commemoration of my brother Hans Dannenberg. His wife Giselle and his sons Hans Manuel and Markus on the podium. Hans had a perfect family. A wife who supports him in his passion and children with the mentality of world citizens,” wrote the vice-minister in his profile on the X platform.
In the video, in English, his wife defines him as an “extraordinary human being”, “who only knew how to be loved and help those who need it”.
At the end of her message in the video posted by Gómez, Giselle assured that, despite saying goodbye to Danneberg, he will continue to live forever in the hearts of the people who had the privilege of knowing him.
“Today, Canada and dozens of friends said goodbye to Hans Dannenberg in the Notre-Dame Basilica in Ottawa,” wrote Elias Brache, Dominican consul in Chicago, alongside a photo showing a black and white painting by Dannenberg next to a Dominican flag. inside the Basilica.
Meanwhile, the Foreign Ministry's X account also shared images of the mass celebrated in Moscow, Russia, from where Dannenberg was transferred to take up the post of ambassador to Canada in the middle of this year.

The mass in Russia took place in the presence of the Dominican ambassador to Russia, Alejando Arias, as well as the missionary team; as well as representatives of the Russian government, heads of diplomatic missions and international organizations accredited in this country, as well as Dominicans residing in this country, the ministry said in its press release.
Dannenberg died last Saturday, December 23 following a heart attack, while he was in Montreal, Canada.
