DOMINICAN REPUBLIC AND CUBA WIN GOLD IN 100 METERS FLASH

Colombia, the United States, Chile, Cuba and the Dominican Republic won the gold medals in a festive atmosphere at the National Stadium in Santiago.

Silver went to Jazmín Abrams of Guyana, recording a time of 11.52 seconds and bronze went to Michelle-Lee Ahye of Trinidad and Tobago. The latter athlete won the silver medal at the Lima 2019 Pan American Games.

“I thank my organization, my coaches and my sponsors. This is for everyone who brought me here. I had never been in such a beautiful stadium, with so much noise. It’s a good thing,” said Kasey Knevelbaard.

The podium was completed by the Canadian Charles Philibert-Thiboutot, who won the silver medal with a time of 14:48.02, and the Brazilian Altobeli Da Silva, who won the bronze medal, with a time of 14: 48.18. Da Silva had already obtained second place in Lima 2019.

It should be noted that the winner at the start of the competition was the champion of Lima 2019, the Mexican Fernando Martínez, but he was disqualified since the judges judged that upon arriving at the finish line he had interrupted the medalist gold, Kasey Knevelbaard.
