Lumon opens its third factory in the world in Antequera and positions itself in the dry port

The Finnish multinational Lumon, specialized in glazing systems for terraces and porches, inaugurated its new factory in Antequera. It is the third of this Group, based in Malaga for 30 years, after those of Finland and Canada. With these facilities, the company is positioning itself in the future dry port of Antequera, the largest logistics platform in southern Europe currently under construction.

The factory, inaugurated by the president of the junta, Juanma Moreno, occupies 25,000 meters and generates 120 direct jobs (There are already 40 incorporated), plus another 200 indirect or induced. It has the capacity to produce 6,000 sheets of glass per week and required 40 million euros investment.

The President stressed that “Antequera will be a key hub thanks to the dynamism of the Megahub Andalusia logistics platform“, the result of a public-private collaboration between the Public Ports Agency of Andalusia and the company Puerto Seco de Antequera.

Moreno said that the urbanization works of the first phase of the macro-complex, which will cover 102 hectares, are being finalized. The first phase of urbanization of Puerto Seco de Antequera involves an investment of €34.7 million. In parallel, the electrical substation is under construction, which will also be completed this year and which has a budget of 4.8 million.

“On private initiative and investors need to make it as simple as possible so that projects like this succeed in our region”, he assured, referring to the work in the field of public-private collaboration that the Andalusian government is developing.

The inauguration also took place in the presence of the Minister of Economy, Finance and European Funds, Carolina España; the mayor of Antequera, Manuel Jesús Barón, and the delegate of the government of the junta in Malaga, Patricia Navarro.
