Canadian artist Justin Bieber was arrested last Friday near Toronto.

Canadian artist Justin Bieber was arrested last Friday near Toronto (Canada) for dangerous driving and assault when the all-terrain vehicle (ATV) he was driving collided with a car.

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) said in a news release today that the crash happened Friday afternoon in Perth East, about 150 kilometers west of Toronto, when Bieber's SUV , who was with another person, collided with a minivan.

“The driver of the ATV and an occupant of the minivan were involved in a physical altercation. Justin Bieber (20), of Calabasas, California (United States), was charged with reckless driving and assault,” indicates the police press release.

The occupant of the minivan was not arrested by Canadian police.

The accident occurred a few kilometers from the town of Stratford (Canada), where the Canadian singer grew up and where his father owns a house.

Bieber's lawyer, Brian Greenspan, said in a statement released today to Canadian media that the artist was in Stratford to rest with American artist Selena Gomez.

Greenspan said his break was “unfortunately interrupted by the unwanted presence of a paparazzi.”

The artist's lawyer added that Bieber, who has had extensive contact with law enforcement in the United States and Canada, was “fully cooperating” with the police investigation.
