The actor Guillermo Castañeda He has a well-known career in the field of comedy, which he has somewhat left aside in recent years to devote himself to television hosting and event organization. But today, Friday October 21, he will participate in an important international festival in Canada as the only Peruvian representative.

Latin Comedy Festival It takes place this Friday and Saturday and brings together actors from nine Spanish-speaking countries. Guille says he was invited in 2019 but due to a play he was unable to confirm his attendance. Then the pandemic arrived, and this year the organization resumed.

This Friday he will make a presentation of 15 to 20 minutes and will share the stage with comedians from Mexico, Costa Rica, Venezuela and Colombia, among whom stands out Antonio Sanint. On Saturday, representatives from Puerto Rico, Guatemala, Bolivia, Mexico and Chile, among others, will appear. For Argentina there will be the famous Pablo Molinari.

Castañeda says these are artists he knows from the scene, he even met those who organize the festival in Argentina when he went to study and ended up doing stand-up.

The Peruvian recognizes that he has moved away from comedy and stand-up. “I visited several bars again, I went to Carabayllo Last Saturday, I was traveling everywhere to train. For me, it will be a great experience because it means seeing people from outside in other styles. Comedy has changed in recent years and for me It will be interesting to see how things work out in other countries.. In addition, apart from the presentation, there is coexistence with other actors,” he commented.

Castañeda says that what is happening in the country with comedy is a phenomenon. 20 or 30 years ago, humor referred to things that have changed today, and now it's not that certain topics can no longer be discussed, but that it's not even funny anymore, as the homophobic and misogynistic comments.

He also points out that the audiences affected have changed. For example, stand-up remained a bit in bars and did not evolve into other formats in Peru, as happened in other countries. On the other hand, consider that there is a before and after with podcasts like talking Huevadas. “Everyone must find their place to continue to create humor”.

Guille hosts the program Pukllaspa Yachay on television Peru. This is a competitive program for young people who want to learn Quechua. “It seems to me that it is a language that must be recovered, a language that makes us very Peruvian, just like ceviche and Machu Picchu, Quechua should be a value,” he emphasizes.

He also says that he has always been fascinated by this language and is currently taking courses to learn it.
