Canada is in favor of a rapid entry of Sweden and Finland into NATO | World

Canada is in favor of Sweden and Finland’s early entry into NATO, after the two countries expressed their desire to join the Atlantic alliance, following the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

This was stated by the Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mélanie Joly, who

Joly made the statements during a teleconference with the media after concluding a visit to Germany and Belgium, where he participated in the meeting of G7 foreign ministers and a bilateral meeting between the European Union and the Canada.

The Minister explained that Canada would like Sweden and Finland to join NATO soon, as they are a great contribution.

In this sense, he pointed out that these two nations have highly performing armies, which have long participated in military maneuvers with NATO countries.

On the other hand, the Foreign Affairs official pointed out that Canada is ready to send ships to Romania to export wheat blocked in Ukraine due to the Russian invasion.

The UN has warned that the blockade of Ukrainian ports on the Black Sea could cause famine in Africa and the Middle East, which depend on Ukrainian exports to meet their needs.

Joly added that one of the priorities of Western countries is to facilitate the export of Ukrainian wheat and ensure Ukraine’s upcoming harvests.
