President Andrés Manuel López Obrador on Wednesday recognized Miguel Barbosa as a fighter for democracy, the president will attend today a tribute to the governor of Puebla, who died yesterday.
“He is a fighter for democracy. I have known him for many years, in 1990, 1989 in Puebla. He is from Tehuacán, (…) we started the program there the school is ours and this year we have lived a lot together”, he declared in his morning conference.
He recalled that the last time he saw Miguel Barbosa was on November 27 during the march and it was he who had the initiative to mobilize.

“The last time, well, was during the march, and a short time ago we were in Puebla, where the Ayala plan was signed on the border between Guerrero and Puebla, we were there together. From there was born his proposal to organize a demonstration, a march in Puebla to defend the government and the transformation, during the onslaught of the conservatives,” AMLO pointed out.
The president reiterated his regrets for the death of Miguel Barbosa and said that today at 11:30 a.m. he will be in Puebla to recognize him.
Yesterday afternoon, the government of Puebla announced that Barbosa died in Mexico City, this after being hospitalized.
