President Andrés Manuel López Obrador revealed and celebrated this Friday that businessman Ricardo Salinas Pliego had paid 2,722 million pesos in taxes owed by his companies.
“I want to take this opportunity to point out that the Salinas Pliego companies have paid a tax credit of just over 2 thousand 722 million pesos. This in accordance with a resolution of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation. I celebrate and thank you for respecting this judicial mandate, because there was a desire to respect the Court’s resolution. Some protections had been filed and they were withdrawn and the SCJN resolution was accepted as res judicata,” the president commented.

During his morning lecture, López Obrador said that some people had come to tell him that Grupo Salinas was not going to pay the taxes he owed, however, he said he had not entered into the controversy because that “I knew I was going to act responsibly because it’s about respecting institutions and there are no privileges”.
AMLO also congratulated Federal MPs for approving the Federal Revenue Act and the Federal Duties Act yesterday, also adding that there is no increase in taxes or duties because it is not necessary. .
“That is why we have, without increasing taxes or gasoline or putting the country in debt, we have a budget to finance public expenditure and investment. The country’s treasury is strong and that’s a big part of everyone complying with it, I recognize and appreciate that, because it’s the best,” the Federal President said.
