Elementary school students are treated for poisoning in Valle de Chalco

At least 13 students and a teacher at Belisario Domínguez Elementary School, in Valle de Chalco, State of Mexico, showed symptoms of intoxication after inhaling a substance that was not released by authorities.

According to a report from the Red Cross of the State of Mexico, at 10:42 a.m. the report was received in Ignacio Comonfort Street, in the neighborhood of San Isidro, in the Valle de Chalco, where they evaluated and transferred two 11-year-old children at Fernando Quiroz General Hospital, where they are currently being kept under observation.

Another unit transferred a 36-year-old teacher to the Social Security Institute of the State of Mexico and Municipalities (Issemym) in Valle de Chalco. He also said other children with mild symptoms were receiving pre-hospital care and then treated in other hospitals or at home.

According to the paramedics, the symptoms they presented were: excessive tearing, irritation of the mucous membranes of the respiratory tract, excessive salivation and weakness.

However, he said he was unaware of the substance that caused the poisoning in the classroom.

According to the Director General of the Chalco Region Government, Jorge Hernández, none of the students tested positive for toxic substances, so 11 were fired and only two remain under observation.

“They are just under observation as they had inhalation contact. None of the cubs have evidence of toxic substances and the other 11 have not,” he told media.

The Mexico State Attorney’s Office pointed out political animal that there is still no confirmation of the substance that caused the poisoning of the children.
