The Chilean men’s handball team won the bronze medal at the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games. In a match played at the sports gymnasium in Viña del Mar, 100 kilometers from the capital, the local team won 28-27 against the UNITED STATES.
Despite the medal, the local septet could not repeat the performance of Lima 2019, where they reached second place after losing the final to Argentina.
Rodrigo Salinas and Daniel Ayala, with five goals, were Chile’s top scorers, followed by Esteban Salinas, Francisco Ahumada and Emil Feuchtman, who announced his retirement from the national team after this continental tournament, registered with four conquests.
Among the Americans, there were the best hands of the day. Sean Corning scored seven goals and Samuel Hoddersen six. The United States had a chance to tie the game on the final possession, but missed.

Finally, the bronze medal in women’s rugby sevens went to the Brazilian team, which won by a clear 45-0 against Colombia at La Pintana.

Chile won the bronze medal in women’s field hockey after beating Canada 2-0 at the National Stadium Specialized Sports Centre.
The “Diablas” won their second bronze medal at the Pan American Games, after the one they won at Guadalajara 2011, where they also beat the Canadians.
The author of Chile’s two goals was Denise Rojas Losada, who made no mistake from a short corner to give the “Diablas” another victory over the Canadians, whom they beat in the group stage by the same score .
The opening of the account took place in the first quarter, while the second and final score came in the last quarter, with Chile thus far managing to close out a closely contested match.
One more bronze medal for the Chilean team at the ongoing Pan American Games and the second for local hockey, after the silver won among the men on Friday.
