Zaporozhye calls IAEA decision on power plant shameful

Zaporizhia authorities on Friday described as “shameful” the decision taken by the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), which asked Russia to evacuate the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant.

interviewed by SputnikVladimir Rogov, member of the Zaporozhie regional administration, underlined that this resolution also responds to a political decision.

“By passing a shameful and politically motivated resolution, the IAEA is turning into an incompetent structure that trades its expertise and professionalism for the benefit of Western political interests,” Rogov said.

The decision was taken this Friday, with 24 votes in favor – including 10 NATO countries -; two votes against (Russia and China) and seven abstentions.

Faced with this situation, Rogov pointed out that the countries that make up the IAEA have forgotten that Zaporozhie, since last September, has become part of Russia, after the referendum.

On the same date, having held similar plebiscites, the republics of Donetsk and Luhansk, as well as the province of Kherson, joined Russia.

The IAEA Board of Governors is made up of the United States, Germany, Bulgaria, Canada, Slovenia, Denmark, France, Great Britain, the Czech Republic, Turkey, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Finland, Guatemala, Ireland. , Japan, Qatar, South Korea, Singapore, Switzerland, Uruguay, Russia, China, Saudi Arabia, India, Kenya, Namibia, Pakistan, South Africa, Vietnam, Burundi and Libya.
