Zafranal reaffirms its commitment to agriculture in Arequipa.
This project will help about 290 farmers to improve the efficiency of irrigation in their crops such as rice, potatoes, corn, onion, tomato, fruits, among others, managing to increase their yield and agricultural quality.
The first step towards irrigation efficiency to improve agricultural productivity in the district of Huancarqui, in the province of Castilla; It took the form of the submission of the technical file which will make it possible to achieve this objective.
The document was prepared through coordinated work between the Huancarqui Users Commission, the Majes Valley Users Council and the Zafranal Project.
The intervention took place from its stage at the technical profile level to the formulation and delivery of the project file entitled “Improvement of the water supply service for irrigation in the city of Huancarqui, district of Huancarqui , province of Castile”, with Unique Code of Inversiones 2547056, registered in the state system Invierte.pe.
This project will help about 290 farmers to improve the efficiency of irrigation in their crops such as rice, potatoes, corn, onion, tomato, fruits, among others, managing to increase their yield and agricultural quality.
For this, it is proposed to improve the intake system (intakes), the construction of a sand trap, the control structures (gates) and the lining of the channels in the sectors of Huancarqui, Las Islas, Melgar, El Pueblo, La Laja, Estremadoyro, López and Navarrese.

The delivery of the technical file was made in a public ceremony attended by the main authorities of the city, such as the provincial mayor of Castile, Renzo Pastor; the mayor of the district of Huancarqui, Rafael Salinas; the provincial sub-prefect, Javier Velazco; the representative of the National Water Board, Fredy Guillén; the president of the Valle de Majes Users’ Council, Saúl Durán; and the president of the Users’ Commission of Huancarqui, Benito Ambroncio.
The next action will be to obtain resources to execute the project. For this, the municipal authorities will manage the financing before the national government and the regional government of Arequipa.
It should be noted that Zafranal’s intervention falls within the framework of the basic infrastructure pillar considered in its Social Investment Program that it executes each year in its areas of intervention.
