The Canadian Michael Woods won this Sunday in the eighth stage of the Tour de France, with a goal at the mythical Puy de Dôme, after beating, 400 meters from the finish, the American Matteo Jorgenson, of Movistar, who paved the way for almost the entire climb.
In the fight for the general classification, the Slovenian Tadej Pogacar cut 8 seconds off the Dane Jonas Vingaard after attacking him half a kilometer from the finish and is now 17 seconds behind the yellow jersey.
In the fight for third place, the Spaniard Carlos Rodríguez cut 14 seconds from the Australian Jai Hindley, who occupies the last step of the provisional podium with an allowance of 1.44 minutes.
Fifth overall is Briton Simon Yates, who lost fourth place the day before due to a crash and today recovered nine seconds and threatens fourth place from Rodríguez just 17 seconds behind.
