After confirming the permanence of Yuki Tsunoda In AlphaTauri this week the news of Nicholas Latifi’s departure from Williams was added. With this, the grid for the 2023 season of Formula 1 still on the move, with 6 races still to run in the current campaign.
In Latifi’s case, it was williams in 2019 as a test driver and made his debut in 2020 with the British team. So far he has started 55 races and won 7 points, like in 2021 finishing seventh in Hungary and ninth in Belgiumwhere he only added half because of the way he finished the race.
“Although we didn’t achieve what we would have liked, it was a fantastic trip. Scoring my first points last year in Hungary is a moment I will never forget and move on to the next chapter of my life with a special memento of the time I spent with the team.” Latifiwho assured that he would put all his efforts into the next six races of the season.
On the side of Williams, the director Jost Capito described Latifi as a great “team player” and thanked him for his dedication and commitment over 3 years. “Our time together is now coming to an end, but I know he will do everything he can to maximize what we can do together for the rest of this season.
The team has not announced who will occupy the seat vacated by the Canadian to accompany Alex Alban in 2024. Recently, the Dutch Nyck de Vries raised his hand, taking the Thai’s place at the Italian Grand Prix and adding his first two points in Formula 1; but for the moment it is not confirmed.

As for Latifi, he becomes the second driver confirmed without a team for 2023, after the departure of Daniel Ricardo from McLaren. At the moment, it is not known whether either of them will join another team as a reserve driver or continue their career in another motorsport category.
