To know more information about MLS, matches, teams, footballers and other statistics, there is the official website, where you can accessby clicking on the following link.
MLS is a relatively young competition. It was born in December 1993, as a condition that the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) imposed on the United States to host the 1994 World Cup.
When it first started, the tournament only had 10 teams, but currently it has grown significantly to 29 clubs, including not only franchises from the United States, but also Canada.
The growth of MLS is not only about the team, but also about international fame.
In recent years, it has sought to consolidate itself by calling on stars and legends of world football, in order to attract attention to its competition, repeating the “recipe” that it applied in the North American League Soccer League (NASL), the predecessor of the North American Soccer League (NASL). the MLS, when historic players such as Pelé, Johan Cruyff, Franz Beckenbauer, Gerd Müller and George Best, to name a few, joined their ranks.
Thus, MLS has added to its teams contemporary stars such as David Beckham, Wayne Rooney, Andrea Pirlo, Kaká, Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard, Cuauhtémoc Blanco, Rafael Márquez and Zlatan Ibrahimovic. And more recently to Javier “El Chicharito” Hernández, Carlos Vela, Gareth Bale, David Villa, without forgetting the transfers of Sergio Busquets and Lionel Messi.
These types of moves have made MLS an attractive option not only for players looking to rub shoulders with top players, but also for soccer fans who want to continue watching their favorite stars.
To date, the Los Angeles Galaxy hold the record for titles, with five MLS Cups, closely followed by DC United, who have won four awards.
Regarding the top scorers in MLS, there are notable names such as Chris Wondolowski, with 171 goals, Landon Donovan, with 145 goals, Jeff Cunningham, with 134 goals, Jaime Moreno, with 133 goals and Kei Kamara, with 130.
As for the players who have played the most matches in MLS history, we distinguish personalities like Nick Rimando, with 514 matches, Kyle Beckerman, with 498 matches, Jeff Larentowicz, with 437 matches, Kevin Hartman, with 416 matches and Chris Wondolowski, with 413 meetings.
