MEXICO CITY (apro).– President Andrés Manuel López Obrador promised his Canadian counterpart, Justin Trudeau, whom he also recognized as a friend, that he would receive companies in the electricity sector who disagreed with his government’s attitude, “We are always open to dialogue.”
With this, he will seek to “resolve the problems, the differences, that logically arise in relation to these commercial economic relations”, referring to the commercial treaty under which there were controversies, for which the Mexican did not receive than American companies.
In an open message for the start of the bilateral meeting, he indicated that this is a boom time, during which “Canadian investments in Mexico are increasing like never before”.
Regarding immigration, López Obrador celebrated the program implemented in Canada to grant temporary visas to Mexican workers.
We are also talking about “the recognition of the indigenous communities, of the original peoples, today an agreement of these characteristics is going to be signed and we have strengthened, this is what I consider, our relations even more”.
The Mexican president felt they were neighbors, friends and worked together.
The Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, declared that “we, the two countries, are progressive, respectful of opportunity, fairness, equality for all, jobs for the middle class and those who strive to unite; environmental protection”.
He emphasized that supporting Indigenous peoples was central to his vision for each of the two countries, for a more prosperous North America.
“We have seen in recent years a real deepening and expansion of our economic and commercial connections and ties, but also from person to person, and of work, investment, commitments around the world, in the hemisphere, with the challenges ahead of us .democracy for our friends, but also around the world,” he said.
Canada and Mexico, he said, remain very strong friends and allies.
He added that they seek to increase economic alliances and people-to-people ties and, most importantly, the prosperity that both bring to the trilateral relationship in North America, “which has so much to offer the world.”
The Canadian president assumed that there is still a lot to do, “but when you do it with friends. The job is well done, and that is what we are experiencing now”.
