Where does the conflict between Israel and Palestine come from?
Antonio Alonso Marcos, professor of international relations at CEU San Pablo University, explains on Onda Cero where the conflict between Israel and Palestine. According to him, three key points can be established in the story.
The origin is dates back to 1917to the First World War, when the United Kingdom signed the Balfour Declaration in which they promised territory to Israel, which at that time was still did not exist as a state. However, they also promised the same territory to the Sharif of Mecca Husayn ibn Ali for the Arabs oppressed by the Ottoman Empire, i.e. the Palestinians.
Then, in the year 45, after World War II, ““We are working to give Israel a state” that is, the promised land and in 1948 the State of Israel was finally declared. Then began the War of independence between Israel and the Arab nations, who support the Palestinian people.
In 1967 the so-called Six Day War broke out, which ended with the Israel’s victory over Egypt, in their attempt to reconquer Palestinian territory.
Likewise, the expert in international relations specifies that the the closest origin of the conflict dates back to the last 6 years, with a series of attacks against Iran. The “selective assassinations,” as Israel calls them, targeted scientists, senior Defense Ministry officials, etc.
Although they sparked rumors of war between Iran and the United States and provoked mild retaliation by Iran against a American headquarters in Iraqduring which there were no casualties and the The Trump administration did not respond.
