Iranian Foreign Minister Hosein Amir Abdolahianmet this Saturday with the head of the Political Bureau of the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas, Ismail Haniyehas part of the visit of the head of Iranian diplomacy to the capital of Qatar, DohaQatari television Al Jazeera reported.
The channel did not give details of the meeting, but broadcast images of Abdolahian and Haniyeh, who resides in Doha and heads the political office of the Islamist movement from there with the approval of the Qatari government, which considers Hamas a valid interlocutor in Gaza and has hosted the headquarters for a decade.
The Iranian Foreign Minister’s visit to Qatar also comes a day after that of the US Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken.

The Hamas leader already spoke by telephone on October 7 with the Iranian president, Ebrahim Raïssiand addressed “events in Palestine”, according to Iranian media, which did not provide further information on the communication between the two politicians.
Tehran is one of the main allies of the Islamist movement Hamas and leads the so-called Axis of Resistance against the Jewish state, its sworn enemy.
Iran celebrated the Hamas militia operation against Israel with congratulations and fireworks in the streets of the Iranian capital.
