Venezuela.- Venezuela asks Interpol to arrest the new president of the parallel opposition parliament, exiled in Spain

MADRID, Jan 9 (EUROPA PRESS) –

Venezuelan Attorney General Tarek William Saab announced on Tuesday that he had asked Interpol to issue a red arrest warrant against the new board of directors of the Venezuelan National Assembly elected in 2015 and controlled since then by the opposition.

More specifically, it mentions Dinorah Jaxilda Figuera Tovar –First Judge–, elected president of the chamber, as well as Auristela del Valle de Castillo –Acción Democrática– and Marianela Fernández Alvarado –Un Nuevo Tiempo– as vice-presidents , according to Venezuelan news portal Últimas Noticias. Figuera and Del Castillo live in Spain, while Fernández lives in the United States.

Saab explained that these three people are wanted for “theft of Venezuelan assets”, usurpation of office, criminal association and treason and stressed that the arrest warrant includes “a measure of seizure and seizure of assets, blocking and immobilization of accounts and prohibition of transfer and encumbrance”.

He also revealed that arrest warrants have also been issued for the new secretary of the opposition assembly, José Figueredo Márquez, and for undersecretary Luis Alberto Bustos.

The 2015 National Assembly recently extended its term for the third consecutive year in the face of what it considers illegitimate elections promoted by Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.

Saab argued that “according to our legislation, a parliamentarian elected in 2015 ends his mandate in 2020”. “How is it possible that in 2024 some illegal subjects have proclaimed themselves a parliamentary commission to supposedly monitor the country’s assets abroad?” he asked.

Saab directly linked the existence of this parallel legislative power to the sanctions imposed by the United States and its allies. “In assets and resources blocked, withheld or confiscated outside the country, it is estimated that property damage has been caused in Venezuela that can be located at more than 30,000 million dollars,” the prosecutor pointed out.

“Thanks to the criminal actions of this group of thugs who call themselves the interim government. They have shot ethics in politics. A bad example for future generations (…). (They are)” the worst political gang organized (.. .) that uses politics to plunder Venezuela’s assets abroad,” he denounced.

“They took advantage of extreme political circumstances, such as the arrival of Donald Trump as President of the United States to make a ghostly shadow government and coup attempts,” he said.

Specifically, he referred to transactions such as the recent delivery of $2.7 billion by the United States “to this criminal group called the ‘Interim Government,'” reported by the US State Department itself. . “It’s not about donated money, it’s about the money of all Venezuelans that has been stolen by this group of criminals. Where is that money? I imagine that in the purchase of assets outside the country and in tax havens,” he said. Saab.

On Sunday, the issuance of arrest warrants for Figuera, Del Valle and Fernández by the 49 Control Court of the Criminal Judicial Circuit of the Metropolitan Area of Caracas, to which the 2015 assembly reacted by criticizing “the ferocious attack of Nicolás Maduro’s regime it is part of his systematic repression of democratic forces”.

The Unitary Platform which brings together the opposition parties also stressed that “the National Assembly of 2015 is the legitimate institution which enjoys international recognition from important countries such as the United States, the Germany, France, Canada, among others”.

Figuera recently said that the opposition had decided that the new board should be outside the country “to guarantee the safety of the board against possible attacks by the regime”, according to the portal. information Efecto Cocuyo, linked to the opposition.
