Ukraine receives hundreds of Senator armored vehicles from Canada

Canadian armored vehicle manufacturer Roshel has delivered more than a hundred high-tech Senator armored personnel carriers to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

The armored personnel carriers were delivered to Ukraine as part of Ottawa’s military aid to Ukraine and support from patrons in Eastern Europe.

“The Roshel company has delivered more than 100 vehicles. More than 300 on their way to Ukraine,” senior company officials said.

The Senator is a newly developed armored vehicle (the first Senator to roll off the line in 2018) designed for police and border patrol.

The Ukrainian army actively used these vehicles during the counteroffensive in the east and south of the country. In addition, a batch of armored vehicles was handed over to border troops to provide security on the border with Belarus.

The army notes the good handling characteristics of the Senator compared to heavier American and Ukrainian armored vehicles.

According to the company, the vehicle’s body has been specially designed to incorporate advanced thermal and acoustic insulation materials that provide an uncompromising level of comfort to its occupants. The vehicle is fully air-conditioned for comfortable use in harsh environments.

The perimeter armor of the Senator’s passenger compartment and engine compartment is designed to provide protection up to CEN B7 ballistic protection level, but the Senator’s armor withstands greater impacts. The floor is fitted with blast protection to defend the occupants in the event of a simultaneous explosion of 2 German DM-51 hand grenades or equivalent light anti-personnel mines.
