Two new cases of monkeypox in Ciudad Real

Castilla-La Mancha recorded five new cases of monkeypox between September 2 and September 8, specifically two in the province of Ciudad Real, others in Toledo and one in Albacete.

In this way, the confirmed cases in the Castilla-La Mancha region amount to 60. Toledo tops the list with 20 cases and Ciudad Real follows with 18. In Albacete there are 11, nine in Guadalajara and two in Cuenca.

In Spain as a whole, according to data from the National Epidemiological Surveillance Network (Renave), as of September 9, 6,884 confirmed cases of monkeypox have been reported.

A total of 6,746 are men and 138 are women. The age varies between seven months and 88 years, with a median age of 37, as reported by the Council in a press release.

In the rest of Europe, a total of 16,124 confirmed cases had been confirmed, France (3,646), Germany (3,530), the United Kingdom (3,345), the Netherlands (1,195 ) and Portugal (871) being the most affected countries in addition to Spain. . Most are young men with a history of relationships in a sexually risky context.

Worldwide, as of September 9, a total of 33,382 confirmed cases have been reported in non-endemic countries, including the United States (21,504), Brazil (5,726), Peru (1,724), Canada (1,317) and Colombia (938) .the most affected countries.
