A Canadian has been arrested in Tulum, Quintana Roo, for his alleged involvement in the murder of a policemanstate authorities announced on Tuesday.
The arrest of the Canadian, identified as Patrick “C”occurred after an incident that occurred the day before in the town of Francois Hu Mayof Tulum, where municipal police officers went to verify the report of an attack with a firearm that the alleged attacker committed against a vehicle, the Quintana Roo prosecutor’s office said in a statement.
The prosecutor’s office indicated that, without just cause, The Canadian fired a shotgun blast at the municipal officers, wounding one of them, who died of his injuries.
After the attack, The Canadian entered his house and set it on fire, then left the scene. In the midst of this situation, the police used firearms to restrain the alleged attacker, who was shot in the leg and taken to hospital in Carmen Beachwhere he remains interned as a detainee, the prosecution said.
