VANCOUVER, BC /ACCESSWIRE/March 13, 2023/ Torq Resources Inc. (TSX-V: TORQ)(OTCQX: TRBMF) (“Torq” or the “Company”) is pleased to announce that it has commenced its first drilling program at the Santa Cecilia Gold-Copper Project located in the world-class Maricunga belt in northern Chile, about 100 kilometers (km) east of the city of Copiapó. The Santa Cecilia project is located immediately adjacent to the Norte Abierto project, owned by Newmont and Barrick, which includes the Caspiche and Cerro Casale porphyry gold-copper deposits (Figure 1). The initial drilling program at Santa Cecilia is expected to total approximately 15,000 meters (m) over the next 14 months with a four-month break scheduled between June and September for the Chilean winter. Approximately 7,000m of drilling is expected to take place in 2024, with the first two drill holes planned for the northeast flank of the Cerro del Medio target area, where mineralization from a 2012 drill hole intersected 925, 7 m at 0.21 g/t gold. 0.27% copper and 82 ppm molybdenum in a porphyry system located immediately below the epithermal gold system that was defined between 1988 and 1990 by a major mining company (Figure 2). Importantly, the mineralization intersected in the 2012 drill hole is known to be in host rock, and the Company is targeting a higher grade causal intrusion.
A message from Shawn Wallace, CEO and Director:
“This is the first drill program to be completed on the Santa Cecilia project in over a decade, since a discovery was made in 2012. We are privileged to follow the historic work that has defined 1.5 km of continuous vertical mineralization, starting from surface in an epithermal gold system and later transitioning to porphyry copper mineralization the support of the local community and we are committed to maintaining our mutually beneficial relationship throughout program delivery, which includes ongoing and transparent communication through an established committee. The first results are coming in.”
Drilling program:
The first two drill holes planned at Santa Cecilia will be drilled on the Cerro del Medio target, which is located at the center of the project, and will target a north-northeast trending structural corridor that could control the location of potential causal intrusions further important. law. These orientations are similar to the orientation of the high-grade porphyry phase observed in the adjacent Caspiche deposit. The planned drill holes are targeting breccia bodies, associated resistivity highs and magnetic anomalies that lie to the east of historical drilling along the north-northeast trending structural corridor. They are located 500 m east of the historic 2012 porphyry intersection and 500 m in strike length along the structural corridor.
