There Ardverikie Estate in Inverness, Scotland, was the location chosen as the backdrop to recreate Balmoral Castle, the Scottish residence of Queen Elizabeth II. The first images from the new season show Prince Charles still with his two young sons, Prince William and Prince Harry, as they walk through the Scottish Highlands, in a recreation of real-life scenes.
Balmoral has been owned by the British royal family since 1852, when it was acquired by Prince Albert, husband of Queen Victoria. To this day it is privately owned by the family, but not the Crown.
Meanwhile, Ardverikie Estate is a 19th century house made famous by the BBC series. Monarch of the Glen, and has become the ideal alternative to simulate what Balmoral Castle is. Among its main features, the majestic architecture and Scottish towers stand out.
Chicago and Canada
Finally, among the settings transformed to convey the story of The crownalso highlights the Canary Wharf area of London, which was used to recreate the area of Canada where Prince Charles arrived for an engagement.
For his part, Dominic West was seen playing the character in this area and some Canadian car license plates and signsalthough it is not clear what event will be told in this place, chronologically located between the end of the 90s and the beginning of the 2000s.
Additionally, in this same area, will be recreated the city of Chicago, as a replica of the United States presidential motorcade was seen and could match the journey of the country’s president, who traveled the streets of east London on a political engagement trip. Given the period covered by season 6 of the series, it is possible that the scene covers the journey of Bill Clinton, elected in 1993.
