PROGRESO, Yuc., January 31, 2023. With typical music and the traditional Cochinita of Yucatan, yesterday afternoon, the mayor of Progreso, Julián Zacarías Curi, and the head of the Secretariat for Tourism Development (Sefotur), Michelle Fridman Hirsch have hosted dozens of North Americans and Canadians who prefer the City of Progress as their second home.
During a rally in front of the magnificent view of the chocolate pier, Zacarías Curi, also accompanied by the consuls, Dorothy Ngutte, of the United States in Mérida and Alie Bourgeois-Charbonneau, of Canada in Cancun, thanked the foreign citizens for their preference and reiterated his commitment to continue to see the port as a calm and decent place to live.
And he underlined that this meeting, “more than a welcome is a process, because we know that many of you already have your permanent residence in Progreso. Please know that we are here, the owner of Sefotur and her server, to clarify the concerns and listen to them, because they are also part of our state,” the mayor said.
The reception was attended by exhibitors who provided information related to health care, legal services, moving transition, among others, all provided by Sefotur.
It should be mentioned that the reception took place this month, since it is on these dates that the bulk of the visitors are found; those living in Progreso are temporarily arriving in November, and many of them were unable to attend the welcome event. This time it went more like a “Meet and greet”; a fact that the foreign community recognized and thanked, emphasizing that during the four years of the administration of Zacarías Curi they felt well cared for.
Finally, the mayor thanked the expressions of affection and reiterated his availability, not only with those who come from the United States and Canada, but also from other countries, who also gathered yesterday.
