The Telegraph – FluxJet, the fastest train to travel in Canada

FluxJet is a hybrid between a train and a passenger plane that could reach a speed of at least a thousand kilometers per hour, according to a press release published on the website of the Canadian company TransPod, in charge of transport development.

According to the RT news portal, “The text indicates that the vehicle, which weighs almost a ton, will be able to travel on a protected road at a speed higher than that of an airplane, while specifying that it will be three times faster than a normal high-speed train.

The vehicle is fully electric and its operation is based on clean energy systems without fossil fuels, which would free the environment from the emission of at least 363,000 tonnes of CO2 per year.

“All the hard work over the past few years has led to this historic moment where conversations become a reality,” said Sébastien Gendron, co-founder and CEO of TransPod. “The technology is proven and we have the confidence of investors, governments and partners to continue to effectively drive the redefinition of transport,” he added.

FluxJet will operate exclusively within a network that has key locations in major cities across Canada. This country expects to generate up to 140,000 jobs and a contribution to the region’s GDP of at least $19.2 billion.
