President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador reiterated its reform proposal to ensure that National Guard be part of the Secretary of National Defense (Sedena) in order to prevent the corruption of society.
During the morning press conference, López Obrador said the motivation for the proposal was that there would be no going back to when the federal police were in force.
“We don’t want García Luna anymore, and if we leave the Guard in charge of the Security Secretariat, that risk is taken, we don’t want that, we don’t want it to be lost, we don’t want to build a Frankenstein,” the president said.

In addition, Lopez Obrador He said the country will not be militarized with the National Guard and he even added that the errors and acts of repression committed by the navy and the army, in general, were based on orders from the civil authorities and former presidents.
“The opponents do not want us to move forward and guarantee peace and tranquility with respect for human rights. If the Guard depended on Sedena, it would be a branch like the Air Force and the Infantry, the Army, but they don’t want to and they block, but I have the obligation and the duty to present the changes, and if they reject them everyone will take responsibility,” the president said.

Regarding the constitutional reform so that the Guard depends on Sedena, López Obrador said that this month it will be sent to the Senate then at the House of Representatives.
