Chilean Víctor Dávila and Costa Rican Joel Campbell’s Leon will host Violette from Haiti tonight, aiming to win at home and start with an advantage in the Concacaf Champions League quarter-finals.
After defeating the Tauro of Panama, with victories by 0-1 and 2-0, the León led by the Argentine coach Nicolás Larcamón maintained its good performance in the Clausura of Mexican football in which it appears third in the table, and reached the duel with the Caribbean in a moment of great form.
Dávila, Campbell, who saved a draw on Saturday at the Azteca stadium with América, and Argentina’s Lucas Di Yorio are the three main offensive pieces with which Larcamón’s team will seek a bye to the semi-final, against a enigmatic rival, of which the Mexicans know little.
In the round of 16, Violette gave the championship upset by beating MLS Austin in the first leg and, despite losing the second leg 2-0, signing access to the phase best four.
The winner of the series will face the best between Tigres UANL of Mexico and Motagua of Honduras. In the other quarter-final matches, Mexico’s Atlas will face MLS Philadelphia and Canada’s Vancouver Whitecaps will challenge Los Angeles FC.
