The call came after Junts yesterday asked the president to submit to a question of confidence if he does not specify how he will comply with the government agreement. Aragonès has already answered on Tuesday that he will not enter “in any game that generates instability in the institutions”.

The extraordinary meeting of the Consell Executiu convened by the President of the Generalitat, Pere Aragonès, in the face of the crisis between ERC and Junts, ended this Wednesday around 7:10 p.m., so it lasted almost two hours.
The call came after yesterday, Junts proposed to the president to submit to a question of confidence if he does not specify how he will respect the government agreement.
Aragonès has already answered on Tuesday that he will not enter “in any game that generates instability in the institutions”.
The fact that Jordi Puigneró, vice-president of the government and highest representative of the councils in the executive, was aware of the proposal of the question of confidence and did not warn Aragonès in advance, generated unease in the Republican ranks, who consider it an act of disloyalty to the president.
Yesterday Tuesday, Father Aragonès proposed to the Spanish government a “clarity agreement” to lay the groundwork for holding a referendum on self-determination, a mechanism similar to the Clarity Law that Canada approved for the referendum on the independence of Quebec. This was announced during his speech during the general policy debate in the Catalan Parliament. The leader of the Juntas in Parliament, Albert Batet, summoned Father Aragonès, to clarify whether he intends to respect three points of the government agreement: strategic orientation of independence, strategic coordination in Madrid and dialogue table.
