Bogotá’s Campín Stadium has been at the center of multiple controversies so far in 2024, and even in previous years. The lawn of the enclosure is in very poor condition, but this is due to the large number of concerts that the stage has hosted. In addition to this, South American Under-20s, league matches and international cups were played, and the rains in Bogotá also contributed to the current state of the venue.
Discussions between the clubs that play in the stadium, Independiente Santa Fe and Millonarios, Dimayor and the Regional Institute for Leisure and Sports (IDRD), have been constant due to the use of the stadium. And it is that the Campín has been loaned for several concerts in 2024, and there are still more to come, which will continue to affect the Bogotá teams, both due to the availability of the stage and the state of the field.

The new controversy concerns Conmebol, however, as the South American football governing body has chosen the Campín stadium as their first option to host the women’s Copa Libertadores in October. The plans have been touched thanks to the IDRD.
The weekend concert will not let the Copa Libertadores play
The district entity has informed the Colombian Football Federation that the maximum sports venue of the capital cannot be used for this event because the concert of the Canadian singer The Weekend will take place on the dates that would be played.
The assembly and logistics of this musical event will begin on September 30, and its dismantling will take place on October 6.

“In view of the above, we invite you to look for options on dates or the possibility of taking into account the Estadio Metropolitano de Techo so that the event (Copa Libertadores Femenina) can be held in the city of Bogotá” , said the IDRD in its letter to the Federation.
