Keydomar Vallenilla won gold in the 89 kilo category in Pan American weightlifting

Weightlifting continues to take place at the Chimkowe Gymnasium facilities, in the municipality of Peñalolén. And this Sunday, it was the turn of the men’s 89 kilo category, in which the Venezuelan Keydomar Vallenilla was the star.

The native of La Guaira arrived at the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games as the main candidate to win the gold medal because he has the record in the specialty. And it didn’t disappoint as it took first place

The Caribbean was by far the best in the competition, as he started by showing his strength in the clean and jerk, with 172 kilos. He then finished the day with 211, to add an Olympic total of 383 kilograms.

In second place, the Colombian Yeison López (who won the snatch with a Pan American record of 177 kilos), with an Olympic total of 382 kilos, while the Cuban Olfides Sáez closed the podium, with 357 kilos.

Even though some of us don’t speak Spanish or anything like that, they understand it, and I really appreciate everyone being so accommodating to us as citizens of the United States and making sure we get there where we need to be. The transportation and everything was truly amazing. “Honestly, I would have to include this place in my list of the five places I like the most,” concluded the gymnast.
