Sinaloa’s Abril Cristina Flores Castro, with Atenas Angélica Gutiérrez Guzmán, finished fourth in the Beach Volleyball Tour of the Confederation of North, Central America and the Caribbean (NORCECA), the first qualifying event for Paris 2024.
In addition, they added points for the Olympic ranking.
The Flores-Guzmán duo finished fourth in the event, beaten 2-1 in the bronze medal game by Canadians Amanda Harnett and Marie-Alex Bélanger. The podium was completed by the United States and Puerto Rico with gold and silver respectively.
Among the men, the famous Juan Ramón Virgen Pulido, who teamed up with Lombardo Ontiveros a few years ago, this time alongside Miguel Ángel Sarabia Delgado, also finished in fourth place.
Virgen and Sarabia lost 2–0 in the third place match against Americans Chaim Schalk and Theodore Brunner; the honor roll was completed by Canada and Cuba.
With this result, the two teams added 680 points to the Olympic qualifying ranking, in the competition which brought together the 12 best teams of the season.
in 2024 and 2024, this process will be repeated and in mid-2024 the continental final will take place, with eight teams present and only two, one per branch, obtaining tickets for Paris 2024.
