Simu Liu hints at future team-up collaborations with Shang-Chi and other Marvel superheroes

Simu Liu has hinted that he might be teaming up with at least one superhero on an upcoming project in the news that’s sure to get Marvel fans excited.

The 33-year-old actor, who starred in Shang-Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings in 2021, shared his excitement in an interview with people Before presenting the Academy of Movement Arts and Science and Technology Awards on Friday in Los Angeles.

“I’m a huge fan of the characters and the artists who portray them,” the Asian-Canadian star said of other superheroes in the Marvel Universe.

Thus, any collaboration is for me an opportunity to work alongside someone who, in their own way, breaks down barriers and is at the top of their game. I think that’s what excites me the most as a performer, [and] Also as a fan.

No details: Simu, who broke barriers as Marvel’s first Asian superhero, didn’t provide details on the proposed pairings. He said, “Any collaboration is an opportunity for me to work alongside someone… at the top of their game.”

And who knows,” the Kim’s Convenience star teased, hinting at a future collaboration, “they might see something sooner than you think. They will.”

Marvel fans have already made sure to see Simu reprise his role as Shang-Chi in the upcoming sequel.

The untitled project is currently in pre-production.

Plot details are under wraps, but writer-director Destin Daniel Cretton will helm the project.

Menger Zhang, 35, will appear as his younger sister, Xu Xialing.

Until then, the former accountant expands his resume, with a wide cast of characters that includes a man whose fiancée, played by Philippa Sue, must choose between him and a husband long thought dead in One True. Loves.

The romantic drama will premiere on April 7.

This summer, the creator of We Were Dreamers: An Immigrant Superhero Origin Story will appear in the highly anticipated Barbie movie, starring Margot Robbie as the titular character and Ryan Gosling as his love interest, Ken.

Dance: Simu will show off her dance moves in the highly anticipated Barbie, which hits theaters July 21. The actor said he likes to “let it all revolve around the dancing and the color and the mood of this film”.

Although his character’s name was not revealed on Barbie’s IMDB page, Symi said he was honored to be offered a role in the film.

“I’m so honored to have the opportunity to play in this sandbox with these amazing writers every step of the way,” he explained.

He said, “Doing something so different from Marvel and battling it was a welcome change of pace, letting it dance and the color and vibe of this movie.”

Barbie hits theaters on July 21.
