In order to meet the human talent needs in the health, information technology and manufacturing sectors of 13 Canadian companies, the government of Quebec launched a call through the Public Agency for SENA employment to fill 145 vacant positions.

2,136 Colombians applied for this work initiative in Canada, using the virtual application of the Public Employment Agency SENA, available at ape.sena.edu.co. After the information verification process, 528 individuals were shortlisted for interviews with North American employers on January 25-26, 2020 in Bogota.

Among the main profiles offered are manufacturing assistants, welders, practical nurses, aircraft mechanics, electromechanics, heavy equipment mechanics, systems integrators and software developers; as well as industrial designers, computer systems administrators, extruder operators, production assemblers, back-end developers and systems engineers.

For the welder profile, the technical tests will be carried out on January 27 in Bogotá at the SENA Metal Work Center, Carrera 30 number 17 B – 25.

For Bard Nordby, director of the Quebec Immigration Office for Latin America, the Quebec government chose Colombia to carry out its first recruitment mission to businesses, in recognition of Colombian talent.

“We know that Colombians have excellent professional profiles, combined with a capacity for integration in Quebec recognized by employers”he expressed. “The temporary job offers offered in this mission offer Colombians a great opportunity for professional and personal development in another country”added the official.

For his part, the general director of SENA, Carlos Mario Estrada, indicated that: “This job call, which we made with the government of Quebec, aims to offer Colombian talents working in the manufacturing, information technology and health sectors the opportunity to find formal employment in Canada. ».
