A family from Bucaramanga experiences tragedy after the death of Sandra Jerez, a 38-year-old woman from Santander who lived in the province of Quebec, Canada, and who died when her car collided with a tractor-trailer.

The woman arrived in this North American country a month ago with her grandchildren aged 4, 11 and 8, in order to seek a better future for all, but she lost her life on October 8.

The children's father, Iván Reyes, explained on Caracol Radio: “I want to take them because the children are alone there. Grandma is desperate to come. She says that if I don't get the urgent transportation, she will come and, in short, she will leave the children behind.“.

In addition, he stressed that at the moment “I do not have the capacity to bear all the expenses that currently exist, to bring the three children”, since he earns the minimum wage.

The body of the Santander woman will be cremated and sent to Bucaramanga with the three little ones, but the process is delayed because the family does not have the money to buy the return tickets to Colombia.

Reyes estimates that he will need between 5 and 6 million pesos to buy the tickets.since there are tickets that vary between 554 and 1,000 Canadian dollars, which represents an expense between $1,698,824 and $3,066,470.

The father of the minors, who is raising funds via social networks to bring his family back, expressed: “The only thing I want now is to have them with me, give them the stability they need and be together as a family.”
