EFE.- Russia announced this morning sanctions against approximately 100 Canadian citizens, including senior government officials, businessmen, activists, financial institutions, media correspondents and actors such as Jim Carrey, said the Foreign Ministry.
These citizens do not have the right to enter Russia “in response to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s regime’s practice of imposing sanctions on Russian leaders, politicians and parliamentarians, the business community, experts and journalists, cultural figures, and anyone deemed objectionable by the Russophobic Canadian authorities”.
The measure was taken reciprocally, Russian diplomacy said in a statement.
Among those sanctioned are the head of the Canadian Communications Security Authority, Caroline Xavier, the premier of Alberta, Danielle Smith, the former premier of the province of Quebec Jean Charest and the former attorney general , Cabinet Minister and Member of the House of Commons, Peter Gordon MacKay.

Also on the Russian blacklist are Volatus Aerospace CEO Glen Lynch and several Ukrainian Credit Union board members, as well as Steve Bandera, a journalist and grandson of Stepan Bandera, referring to the leader and Ukrainian nationalist collaborator.

Also among those affected by the Russian restrictions is the actor Jim Carrey, actress Katheryn Winnik, (known for the series Vikings), writer and filmmaker David Bezmozgis, as well as various correspondents for CBC, CTV, Global News, poet, novelist and literary critic Margaret Atwood, among others.
