Cuba loses 3-2 against Mexico in Norceca

Havana, Sep 07 (ACN) The Cuban women’s team lost in five sets against Mexico, on the third day of the second edition of the Final Six Tournament, held at the National Palace of this sport , in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

According to www.norceca.net, the Cubans won the first half, 25-19, lost the second and third, 23-20 and 20-25, won the fourth, 25-17, but could not finish in the fifth, in which the Quisqueyanas sealed the victory, 15-12, after an hour and 58 minutes of play.

The disciples of Tomás Fernández were better in attack, 61 points to 55, on the block (9-6) and their own errors which gave goals to the rivals (24-27), but the pupils of Rafael Petry showed superiority serving (16-7).

The top scorer of the match was the Cuban Dezirett Madan, with 25 points, including 23 in attacks, one against and another in the services, followed by the Mexican Aimé Margarita Topete (22/15-0-7).

Ailama Cesé (19/16-2-1) and Jessica Aguilera (12/8-3-1) also stood out for the greater Antilles, while María Fernanda Rodríguez (20/14) did so for the winners. -4) and Karina Angélica Gámez (18/15-2-1).

As announced, next Thursday the preliminary phase will end with the all against all system and a day later the fifth place of the tournament will be discussed.

On Friday, the semi-finals will also take place, with the matches between second against third and first against fourth, which will define the teams that will discuss the medals on Saturday.
