Yordi Rosado He was left with his bags packed at the Mexico City airport because he could not comply with the new requirements requested by the Canadian government for Mexicans wishing to enter the countryamong them, having ETA (electronic travel authorization) in force. On February 29, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE) confirmed the new measures imposed by this northern country, which are part of the new immigration control policies.
Through a video that he posted on his social networks, Yordi told his case with the intention of helping as many people as possible who, like him, had planned trips, before the Canadian government's announcement.
The driver begins his video by explaining that he had planned a trip with friends to Canada and that upon hearing of the announcement, he requested a new ETA: “I was flying to Vancouver today, early in the morning (March 6). I had just changed my passport because there were no more pages. I had already had the ETA before. “I had yet another ETA, on the 28th, a day before the Canadian government made the changes.”.
He explains that he made the request at the same time as two friends who were going to accompany him, but that he did not have an immediate response to his approach: “Since I know it's random and not everyone gets it at the same time, I waited. Two days, three days… Today was approaching, the day I was traveling. It turns out that ETA hadn’t arrived the day before.” He said that, in desperation, he filed more applications and sought alternatives to obtaining the visa; However, nothing worked, so he made the decision to show up at the embassy without an appointment.
Even though he knew he wouldn't be served without a reservation, Yordi went, even though they wouldn't let him through. He said he had received information about a special email for immigration emergencies.
However, Rosado explained that even through this email he could not get a response, so he decided to listen to other people and show up at the airport with proof of application for ETA, American visa and even license. Upon arriving at an Aeroméxico departure point, he said the first thing they asked him was if his ETA was updated, to which he replied no, but that he had a previously processed ETA and his American visa. However, After checking the system, the driver was informed that he could not enter the country.
After missing the flight, Yordi considered it necessary to tell his testimony to dispel doubts and that, unlike him, other people do not waste time and money trying to travel to Canada. “I know there are a lot of doubts and I was at the embassy running like crazy. If I can give you one little piece of information that will help someone, add value to them, and save them a trip to the airport, I'd love to tell you about it.
His video racked up dozens of comments from people thanking him for telling their story. Many Internet users wrote to him to inform him that they had also lost flights and tourist packages because of the new measures.
