The objective of the agency is to attract global companies interested in investing in the modernization of the Huancayo-Huancavelica Railway (Macho Train) and the Sierra Longitudinal Highway, Section 4, which is planned to be awarded in December 2023.
Peru, through the Private Investment Promotion Agency (ProInversión), continues its active promotion policy abroad to promote the projects of the Huancayo-Huancavelica Railway (FHH) and the Carretera Longitudinal de la Sierra – section 4 (CLS4), whose allocations are scheduled for December. of this year.
These are two flagship projects in ProInversión’s portfolio which together require an estimated investment of $1.3 billion (excluding VAT).
The delegation assigned by ProInversión begins today a series of bilateral meetings led by the directors of the aforementioned projects, Gian Carlos Silva (FHH) and Norman Zegarra (LS4). The meetings will take place until tomorrow, September 12, at the Intercontinental Hotel in Madrid.
The most representative Spanish companies in the country and with experience in the development of road infrastructure such as SACYR, COPASA, RENFE, OHLA, among others, will participate in the event; as well as executives from Banco Santander and consulting firms such as KPMG. The meetings will include information on the scope and timeline of each project, pre-qualification requirements, and technical and financial aspects.
This busy agenda also includes a special presentation before the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Peru to the Kingdom of Spain, Walter Gutiérrez, and his work team, so that they can know first-hand the scope of the two projects and support their dissemination.
The objective of these foreign visits is to attract global companies interested in investing in the portfolio of projects proposed by ProInversión, which for the period 2023 aims to award 18 public-private partnership (PPP) projects and asset projects, for an approximate amount. of $3 billion, of which 12 projects have been awarded to date, for more than $1.2 billion.
To achieve this objective and ensure competitive and successful tender processes, the entity deployed an active promotion strategy to attract global investors.
By the end of 2023, the ProInversión team will develop local and international events in Europe and Asia; with agendas of bilateral meetings in Peru and abroad for the promotion of specific projects, such as the recent participation of Panama with the portfolio of port projects in the VIII Latin American Port Forum, September 6 and 7.
Likewise, ProInversión will participate in events such as the LATAM Road Summit in Chile on September 27 and 28, the inPERU RoadShow in Colombia and Mexico from October 24 to 27, the P3 2023 in Toronto, Canada from November 13 to 15, the XX National Infrastructure Congress in Colombia from November 22 to 24, LATAM Water Summit organized by RDN in Santiago, Chile on December 7 and 8, among other events and activities.
This work agenda also includes the holding of two Roadshows organized by ProInversión, the first in Europe towards the end of September 2023 in the cities of London, Milan and Madrid; and a second Road Show in Asia in November, in the countries of China, Japan and Korea.
About the projects
The modernization of the Huancayo-Huancavelica (macho train) railway, which will require an investment estimated at $340 million (excluding VAT), will constitute an important boost for the socio-economic development of the Junín and Huancavelica regions. This project will further develop the region’s tourism and agricultural potential, while facilitating the population’s access to health, education, employment and commerce services.
For its part, the Sierra Section 4 longitudinal highway is a mega road project that will benefit more than 1.6 million Peruvians in the departments of Junín, Huancavelica, Ica, Ayacucho and Apurímac, favoring commercial, industrial, agricultural and tourism.
The project, which estimates an approximate investment of 970 million dollars (without VAT), consists of the concession delivery of 955 kilometers that connect the regions of Junín, Huancavelica, Ayacucho, Apurímac and Ica. This is an initiative co-financed by the State and promoted by ProInversión on behalf of the Ministry of Transport and Communications; with a concession period of 25 years.
