To turn the page. Despite the great illusion that Peruvian volleyball team Sub 19 begin with a triumph his passage through the 2022 Pan American Cupthis was not the case and it was that the ‘incaicas’ were down on the scoreboard 1-3 (23 – 25, 13 – 25, 25 – 18, 20 – 25) against their fellows Canada.
The opening set was perhaps one of the most consistent in the match and it was against the Canadians that they set the pace of the game, on points neither of them had a big advantage. However, the Peruvians didn’t make the difference in the final serves, so they fell 23-25.
For the second set, the panorama changed completely as the national sextet never found the hand of their rivals and were below them with a six or seven point lead throughout the set. In the end, 13-25 showed just how dodgy Walter Lung movies are.
The third set reminded the “Incaicas” why they have always been competitive. So with wounded pride, they rode through a tough match and won the points with a big advantage, just like their rival had done just a set before. 25-18 gave Peru a break.
The fourth and final set was contested again; however, down the stretch, unforced errors as well as tricky serves from the Canadians left the Peruvians unable to keep up the pace throughout the set. The 20-25 finish justifies the good performance of Canada and all that remains to be improved in the two-tone sextet.
The next duel is on Tuesday July 19 against Mexico and it all starts at 2:00 p.m. Peruvian time (7:00 p.m. GMT) at the Cox Business Convention Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
