Peru has presented effective proposals in the process of designing the United Nations International Convention to Fight Cybercrime and Strengthen Digital Trust in the World, the Foreign Ministry reported.
During the III Session of the United Nations Ad Hoc Committee, representatives from more than 150 countries around the world, from academia, civil society, public and private sectors, shared their experiences, challenges and proposals in order to develop strategies to combat the use of information technologies and telecommunications for criminal purposes.
“In Peru, we have strengthened the framework of digital trust and the articulation of all those responsible for each area. In this sense, it is essential to develop prevention, mitigation and investigation mechanisms to combat cybercrime,” said Marushka Chocobar, Secretary of Government and Digital Transformation of the PCM.
The official thanked the United Nations for its leadership in this important challenge for citizens and for promoting technical cooperation between all countries in the world to face these risks.
The III Session of the United Nations Ad Hoc Committee is being held in New York in a hybrid format -face-to-face and virtual- from August 29 to September 9, 2022.
Representatives from countries such as Germany, Australia, Canada, China, Chile, Colombia, Denmark, Egypt, Spain, Estonia, USA, Italy, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Portugal, Korea, Singapore, Switzerland, Turkey, among others.
The Peruvian delegation was made up of experts from the Ministry of Government and Digital Transformation of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, as well as specialists from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Justice and Human Rights. Representatives of the public prosecutor’s office, justice and the national police were also present.
